How can you check whether a voice recording is licensed?

You can't tell by listening. The proof has to travel inside the file.

Good synthetic voices are now close enough to the real person that hearing a familiar voice proves nothing about whether they agreed to its use.

That is what a watermark is for. Every AI-generated file made with a voice on Voxifyer carries an inaudible HDIAVOX mark, registered to the talent, the client and the licence. It lets anyone trace the audio back to who made it, whose voice it uses and on what terms.

To check a file, go to portal.voxifyer.com/verify and upload it as WAV, FLAC or OGG. If Voxifyer issued it, you'll see that it was made with the talent's consent, together with the licence's use, language and period.

A "not issued by Voxifyer" result only means the file didn't come from us. It doesn't prove the file is fake. But if it uses one of our talents' voices without their consent, tell us and we will help the talent act on it.

Talents use the check to see how their voice is being used, clients to confirm what they received, and broadcasters and platforms to check what they are about to publish. Lawyers on both sides use it too.
